چکیده

A queueing system with two arrival streams is considered in this paper. A number of schemes assigning different priorities to each of the two arrival streams have been modeled. One of the streams (stream 1) is considered to require a higher priority to access the server than the other (stream 2). On the other hand, stream 1 has stringent constraints with regard to the waiting time, and thus it is treated according to a loss model whereas stream 2 is handled following a delay model. The analysis of the system is carried out by applying the generating function method combined with spectral expansion tools. This approach offers better numerical efficiency and stability over a wider range of system loads than the widely used matrix-geometric approach. The model is applied to a mobile cellular communications system where the call setup requests form the stream 2 and handover requests form the stream 1. © 2004 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

Analysis of Priority Channel Assignment Schemes in Mobile Cellular Communication Systems. A Spectral Theory Approach

In this paper we consider a mobile cellular communications system. Two types of call requests arrive to the base station of each cell: arrivals stream 1 , that are those calls in progress that were originated in another cell and are subsequently handed over to our cell; and arrival stream 2, that are calls originated in our cell. Three new handoff prioritization schemes for channel assignment h...

Performance analysis of a channel assignment scheme in cellular communication systems

In cellular communication systems, channel assignment schemes are very important to improve teletraf®c performance characteristics. Because of the overlapping design of the cells in cellular communication systems, a mobile user is capable of communicating with two different bases. In this paper, a new channel assignment scheme is proposed to improve the blocking probability of a cellular commun...

Queueing analysis of combined guard channel and mobile assisted handoff on prioritized channel assignment for cellular network

In this paper we have considered a wireless mobile network with data/voice traffic. The paper, considered two type of channel assignment (1) with guard channel (2) without guard channel. In cellular mobile system, radio channels are very limited and mobility of mobile terminal occurs a phenomenon called handoff. Handoff is defined as process of transferring an ongoing call or data session from ...

Delay - Loss Analysis of Channel Assignment Schemes in Mobile Cellular Systems with Handoff Priority and Hysteresis Control∗

We consider new channel assignment schemes with hysteresis mechanism, suitable to be used in cellular mobile networks. Two types of calls arrive to the base station of each cell. Stream 1 (of high priority) arrivals are those calls in progress that were originated in another cell and are handed over to our cell (handoff attempts). Stream 2, arrivals of low priority, are those calls originated i...
